Planning Your Trip

When you plan a vacation with family or friends, you cover all the essential steps – booking your travel and accommodation, packing the right clothes, ensuring you have enough spending money. But it is also important to consult your healthcare professional for pre-travel health advice at least 3 to 4 weeks before your planned departure.

Enterotoxigenic E. coli (ETEC) is the leading cause of diarrhea in travellers to underdeveloped countries, such as Latin American, Caribbean, African and South Asian countries.

If you are planning an exotic getaway, make sure that you take all the necessary precautions to reduce your risk of getting Enterotoxigenic E. coli (ETEC)-diarrhea.

DUKORAL® is an oral vaccine that can help protect you against diarrhea caused by LT-producing enterotoxigenic E. coli (LT-producing ETEC) in adults and children 2 years of age or older. It does not treat enterotoxigenic E. coli (ETEC)-diarrhea once it develops and does not prevent diarrhea caused by other organisms. Not everyone who gets vaccinated will be fully protected; therefore, precautions to avoid contaminated food or water should be taken. DUKORAL® is not recommended in pregnancy. Discuss the possible risks and benefits of having DUKORAL® during pregnancy with your doctor. Allergic reactions and side effects such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, fever, nausea and vomiting may occur.
